Approved! works when people are honest, funny and kind. These guidelines explain what is welcome and what is not. They are part of our Terms of Use.

What makes Approved! good

  • Give a real reason, not just “no”. A good reason helps the author decide.
  • Be playful but kind. Tease the purchase, not the person.
  • Suggest a cheaper alternative as a Better Deal with a real link or screenshot.
  • Vote on the question that was asked, and respect the result.

Not allowed

Harm to people

  • Harassment, bullying, insults aimed at a person, or encouraging others to pile on
  • Hate speech or content that attacks people for who they are (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age and similar)
  • Threats, glorifying violence, graphic or gory content
  • Content about self-harm or suicide that encourages it

Unsafe or illegal content

  • Nudity, sexual content or sexual content involving anyone under 18 (reported to the authorities)
  • Requests or deals for illegal goods or services, weapons, drugs or anything that breaks the law
  • Content that exploits or endangers children

Privacy

  • Sharing other people’s private information: addresses, phone numbers, ID, private photos or conversations
  • Posting a photo of another person without their consent
  • Impersonating another person or organisation

Spam, scams and manipulation

  • Spam, repeated promotions, or advertising
  • Scams, phishing, fake or misleading deals, and undisclosed referral or affiliate links
  • Multiple accounts, vote trading, bots or organised voting to push a result
  • Misusing reports to harass someone

Reporting and blocking

  • Report a request, comment, vote or profile from its menu. Choose a reason and, if you like, add a detail.
  • Block someone from their profile: you will no longer see each other’s content, and any follows between you end.
  • We aim to review every report within 24 hours. Reporting the same item twice does not make it faster, and false reports can lead to action against you.

What we do about it

A person reviews reports. Depending on how serious the problem is, we may:

  • Remove the content and tell the author
  • Send a warning
  • Suspend or permanently ban the account and sign it out of all devices
  • Remove Stamps earned through cheating
  • Report illegal content to the authorities
